🌎 Three travel deals you need to look at today

Hello Reader,

Here, this week before Thanksgiving Day, we’re looking ahead. Like much of America, we’re somewhere on the pre-holiday spectrum: traveling, expecting travelers, messaging far-away family, airport runs, road trips, meal planning, grocery runs, housecleaning, and casting a side-eye toward those early holiday sales and glaring Christmas decorations.

This week, we're also being bombarded with Black Friday This and Cyber That, so we thought we'd keep this email very brief and let you know about just three deals in travel that we're using ourselves this week.

And let's leave it at that for now.

Happy Thanksgiving!

💸 This Week's Best Deals in Travel

  • Today, Monday, November 24, is the last day for the holiday sale at REI Coop Outlet store. There are 30-50 percent discounts on lots of name brand clothing and other gear. And members get an extra 20 percent off one item using the code HOLIDAY2025 at check out. This is where we get most of our travel clothes and accessories, and today is the best day all year to get them.
  • Today also is the start of Unbound Merino's only sale of the year. There are discounts on several items we like, such as short and long sleeve t-shirts and their travel hoodies. Sign up for their emails, and you'll get extra discount codes.
  • Starting today, new subscribers will receive 50% off their first year of Thrifty Traveler Premium or Premium Plus. The Thrifty Traveler daily newsletter of great flight and hotel deals is often how we make it cheap and easy to fly around the country, and even around the world. A few months ago, Tom flew first class round trip to Amsterdam for the equivalent of about $700 worth of points – a deal he found through Thrifty Traveler. Just this past week, here are a couple of deals we laarned about from Thrifty Traveler: Oslo for under $500, and many European destinations for about 26K Skymiles on Delta. It's well worth the annual fee if you use just one of their deals. And at half price, it's a no-brainer.

Hello Reader, “I understand there’s a problem you need made a million times worse?” 🧭 Where in the World? As you know, we usually don't comment on politics here, but US political news events of late have again intruded on the traveling public. It's already affected us personally as the TSA slowdowns caused us to lose our Global Entry privileges (that we've paid for) upon reentry to the United States from Argentina a couple of weeks ago. Also, there have been wide reports of long delays – up...

We’ve been home one week since our South America travels, and have moved on from laundry to spring cleaning, from a blizzard to a major thaw, from unpacking to planning our next trips to Spain and Alaska.
